Collage

I love collage, I used to do a lot of it, but recently I've only been collaging with block coloured paper rather than imagery. It was a good jump back into it. I'm pleased with my outcomes but I find mediums like collage quite difficult when they're time pressured? I'm pretty slow when it comes to tasks like this, I cut out too much and get overwhelmed deciding what to use, minimalism will never be something I can achieve.

- make weirder collages, more illusion and strangeness
- uncomfy can be good in illustration
- keep buying odd books in charity shops
- good medium to use when I get cold hands and can't draw very well

I found an amazing 1980 book in a charity shop called "Successful Golf". Brilliant

This reminds me of the "Chinese Girl" painting by  Vladimir Tretchikoff which seems to hang in every vintage shop ever. Always gave me the heebie jeebies

I used to give my teddy bears cocktail umbrellas in the Summer to stop them getting burnt

Nice colours but not sure what's going on here

well hello there

TAKEAWAY TASK

collaging my face

Admittedly my time management this week wasn't brilliant so I'm not as overly enthusiastic about my pieces as I could've been if I'd have allowed myself more time to complete them.
I really don't like taking photos of myself / looking at photos of me but I think through collaging / distorting it could be something which helps this, I found it unexpectedly fun to use my own face within my work as this isn't something I usually do, but will strive to try and do more of.

I really love seeing other peoples outcomes when it comes to tasks like this. Collage is a very individual way of working and its interesting how different people select different images within magazines. I loved the task we did where we had to create adjectives using only the a3 sheets of imagery provided, fascinating seeing the variety of responses within a very restricted brief.

A page in one of my personal sketchbooks I made with a leftover Cait face floating about my desk
