Playbook evaluation

Playbook!! I have thoroughly enjoyed Playbook and the freedom it gave me:

- Creating illustration for the sake of creating illustration is REALLY GOOD. It doesn't always need a 'purpose' or an end goal - by drawing and playing for the fun of it you find new ways of working that you wouldn't find under the pressures of a set brief
- Learnt that cutouts are good, cutouts are keepable
- Abstraction is good, make it wonky, make it stupid
- I love gouache!!!!
- I also love collaging with block coloured paper
- Compared to the first drawings I did of red pandas, my playbook has evolved so much
- One of my favourite aspects of Playbook was the beginning of each session when we got a chance to see what other people had done for the takeaway task. It's really interesting seeing what other people choose to draw when the brief is open. I love everyone's humour and how they use it in their work
- Ugly is good
- Wonky is good
- Stupid is good
- Self doubt is not good
- Childlike curiosity should be nurtured
- You should get excited over quality of line always.
- Reducing subjects down to basic shapes and textures is a great way of making exciting work
- Nurture weirdness always
- Break habits
- Keep hoarding, stay away from the bin
- Messy kooky wacky
