Czech Matchbox Labels

I collect a lot of matchbox labels because I think they're fascinating and the quality of print and design is so beautiful.
This set I got on eBay of Czech folklore inspired matchbox labels.

- celebration of culture and heritage
- folk art for the masses

 I would maybe like to make something like this for my project, something outward facing/commercial but telling folklore, something so ancient and intrinsic to culture. I'm not sure how this will work if I'm writing my own stories rather than responding to existing ones, but maybe just the action of preserving and celebrating folk art and storytelling with something so accessibly and readily available as stamps etc.
There's something so intriguing and enticing about the quality of them, their size and tactileness. I want to get down to screenprint and play around with using simple shape and colour - 60s Eastern European design style.
