Really fun session - fallen in love with sugar paper a little.
This one on the left was my favourite because it was the least lemon-like. Squeezy.
I'm fascinated by the cutouts that happen when I'm collaging - sometimes even more than the collage itself, this was one of these cases. Its a problematic habit, my hoarding issue keeps getting worse, especially with papers.
- try and make the shapes more ambiguous
- doesn't have to be lemon shaped just because its a lemon?
- how ambiguous can you go whilst still being recognised as the fruit it is
- create some collages with the cut outs? Remake into new shapes?

!!! GOUACHE !!!
For the takeaway task we were asked to do gouache paintings. I'd never used gouache before, I've got no clue why because its AMAZING. Love love love how opaque and bold the colour is. Took me a bit to get the hang of how much water to add but once I felt more comfortable I was in my element.
(I painted this pomegranate listening to the My Dad Wrote A Porno podcast. If you know you know)
might make some badges from these wee artist illustrations
This playbook task was running alongside the Book Cover project. I was using the idea of abstract hill imagery for my book cover, so thought I'd test how it worked with gouache. So much more vibrant than the slightly streaky acrylic I'd used in roughs for my design. Very glad I found gouache as an alternative medium.
Gouache:
- will definitely keep using
- gouache and collage are two of my favourite ways of working
-use more bold abstract shapes in my work
-play
-flat colour
