Taken 2 Vladimir Propp books out the library:
"Morphology of the Folktale"
&
"Theory and History of Folklore"
Given me some interesting things to think about when forming my stories:
- changeability of folklore vs stability of literature
- a work of folklore is in constant flux
- anyone listening to a folklore is a potential future performer, who will in turn unconsciously / consciously introduce changes
-------------------
Folklore also isn't just written by a single author from nowhere - so I think I might try cutting up a magazine or something and using existing words in text and mixing them to make new stories?? So I'm not just plucking the stories from nowhere??
It's also ever-changing so I need to find a way to play with this - like chinese whispers? How can I make the story change - could I leave it around for people to find and finish - see where it gets up to after a week or so?
