Hand Stitched Wall Hanging

Following one of the first tutorials I had with Matt he suggested I just take some time to indulge in making a THING. Up to now my sketchbook and FMP have been largely me trying to fiddle about and work out my stories - so this was a welcomed and enjoyable break.

I'm planning on making a larger tapestry to tell my stories as one of my final outcomes - so this was a nice ease into it as I hadn't sewn in a while. Really enjoyed the problem solving of working out how to get my design onto a larger scale and utilise digital means to help me with that.

I know that one of my stories is going to involve a greedy woman stealing the wind and using it as thread to sew beautiful folk dresses - so this could almost be a 'prop' - something to exist within the story? enhance the telling and immersion of it?

Its been a really joyful process to indulge in craft and using my hands to produce something tactile and a labour of love. I've missed doing things like this where after you've designed it, the rest becomes a meditative exercise of slow craft to build the idea into a thing.

Pattern , and recurring specific shapes within pattern is a massive visual consistency amongst folk art
