Sue Doeksen - Pictoplasma 2014 - Tapestry thinkings

Pictoplasma 2014 show report: What's hot in character art from ...

Pictoplasma

From her website : "My conclusion was that it is nearly impossible to capture a person/character in one image, because how we feel and how we (re)act are quite changeable Mood Swings is a dynamic portrait – the composition of the flags can be altered easily so that what you see reflects who you are at a certain moment in time. The characters represent the contemplator en the observer (in you)."

Big inspiration in regards to what a tapestry can be and how that mode of storytelling can be used. The changeability of the drapings to create new combinations and new stories ! Really interesting. The scale too ! V relevant to the way I'm constructing poems with the cut up method. Could be an interesting way of experimenting with sequential narrative further along in the project - chopping up and changing - or allowing a vehicle for them to be changed and viewed differently. Also makes me think about how we view images / read text/images - left to right? right to left? as a whole?
