Futurology - beginnings

Feeling pretty overwhelmed with this project, maybe because I know its a 5 week long project and I'm worried about becoming lost in it?? Also the future scares me quite a bit. Don't necessarily want to go down the robotic / metallic futuristic vibe that comes to mind when you hear future?
Again, lots of little bitty ideas.

BITS OF RESEARCH TO FORM IDEAS:

- I watched the short animated film "World of Tomorrow", lighthearted exterior, pretty haunting/uncomfortable subject? - About clones of our future selves.
"That is a glimmer of hope. Put it back"

- Svalbard Global Seed Vault. Really interesting researching into this, stores over 930,000 samples of seeds representing 13,000 years of agriculture. Could be interesting forming a project around the idea of preserving aspects of our modern life for the future? Something quite charming about the idea of a natural object like a seed holding the key to thousands of years of our lives??

- National Geographic predictions of what people will look like in 2050. They predict the average American will be mixed race. - Could possibly look at taking this way further, what would the average human be like in 2200? Would we exist etc?

IDEAS SO FAR:

- dystopia, 1984-esque. Good basis for image making but its been done so many times, 5 weeks is a long project to get bogged down in such a heavy topic? Maybe something more colourful and optimistic?

- overcrowding. Favellas, Architecture (Hunderwasser ?) 3D models

- wonders of the world, comparing the ones we know today with what may be consdered wonders in the future? Would the ones we think of still exist?

- lighthearted and silly, modern culture - memes etc

- modern life phenomenas, things we deem normal, may be seen as weird by future generations??

- animals - extinction / hybrid futuristic species. Could we fake the existence of animals that are "now extinct", trick future generations etc?

politicians as lizards. ??
